Tobacco Use Prevention Program
Respect My Ride was a public health campaign that educated Dakota County high school and college students about the dangers of secondhand smoke.
Respect My Ride encouraged students to sign a pledge declaring their car smoke-free and gave them tools to limit unwanted exposure to secondhand smoke. When they signed the pledge, they received a removable "Respect My Ride" window tag, making it easy for their friends to see that smoking is not allowed in their car.
This campaign engaged students where they so often communicate, on free social media Web sites such as Facebook and YouTube.
